What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device — your computer, phone, or tablet — when you visit. They are stored in your browser and retrieved on your next visit so the site can recognise you and remember certain information about your preferences or actions.

Cookies do not contain personal information on their own. They hold small pieces of data — such as a session identifier or a language setting — that help a site work properly or understand how it is being used. Most cookies are harmless and serve a genuine purpose.

We use cookies on the Mawar website to keep it functioning correctly, to understand which pages are useful to visitors, and to remember choices you have made. You have the right to choose which optional cookies you accept.

Cookies we use

Essential Cookies

Always active

These cookies are necessary for the website to function. They enable core features such as page navigation and access to secure areas. The website cannot work properly without them, and they cannot be switched off.

Examples: Session management, security tokens, cookie consent preference storage.

Duration: Session (deleted when you close your browser) or up to 12 months.

Analytics Cookies

These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with our website. The data collected is aggregated and anonymous — we cannot identify you from it. It tells us which pages are most visited, how long people spend on each section, and where visitors come from.

Examples: Google Analytics page view data, session duration, browser and device type.

Duration: Up to 2 years for persistent analytics cookies.

Marketing Cookies

Marketing cookies track your activity across websites to help advertising platforms show you relevant content. These are placed by third-party services that we may use for advertising purposes. If you decline these, you may still see adverts — they will just be less relevant to your browsing.

Examples: Facebook Pixel, Google Ads conversion tracking, Bing Ads pixel.

Duration: Up to 90 days for most marketing pixels.

Preference Cookies

These cookies remember settings you have chosen so you do not have to re-enter them each visit. For example, your language setting or regional preferences. Disabling them means some personalisation features will not carry over between visits.

Examples: Language preference, display settings, region selection.

Duration: Up to 12 months.

Third-party cookies

Some cookies on our site are set by third-party services that we use for analytics or advertising. These companies have their own privacy policies, and we do not control how they use the data they collect. The services that may set cookies include:

Third-party cookies are only loaded if you have accepted the relevant category (Analytics or Marketing) in your preferences above.

How long do cookies last?

Cookies fall into two broad categories based on how long they persist:

Most cookies placed on this site expire within 12 months. Analytics cookies set by Google Analytics can persist for up to 2 years. Marketing pixels typically expire within 90 days.

Your rights

Under Malaysian data protection law (PDPA 2010) and good practice standards, you have the right to withdraw your consent to optional cookies at any time. Doing so will not affect anything that happened before you changed your mind.

You also have the right to ask us what information we hold about you and to request correction or deletion of that data. To make such a request, please contact our privacy team.

Disabling optional cookies will not stop the website from working. Essential cookies are necessary for the site to function and cannot be turned off, but they do not store any personally identifying information.
